it is highly appropriate that the Olympic equestrian events should take place in Greenwich Park, 2012
in view of the above photograph recording how rocking horse balancing competitions used to be held beside the boating lake on bank holiday weekends
right up to the start of WWI - pictured here is the 1894 champion Daniel Desmond whose family ran a nursery on Maze Hill -
if anyone has a photograph of the Desmond Nursery famed for its prize peonies apparently, please would you let us know
as we would very much like to include it here....
